FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Do I need to be an elite athlete to work with you?
No, not at all! I work with a wide range of endurance athletes. From those preparing for their first endurance race to more experienced runners that have ran multiple ultras and looking to optimise their performance.
The focus is always on helping you improve your own performance based on your current level, goals, and training. This can be to get to a finish line with no stomach issues. It does not necessarily need to be performance based.
Is the advice personalised or do you use templates?
All advice is fully personalised. Your nutrition strategy is based on your training volume and intensity, race goals, current diet and habits, and individual tolerance (including and gut issues). There is no generic plans, everything is tailored specifically to you.
I struggle with gut issues when running, can you help?
Yes, this is one of the most common areas I support athletes with. Alongside my work in endurance nutrition, I also have experience as a specialist gastroenterology dietitian and have completed training in the low FODMAP approach. This clinical background allows me to take a structured, evidence-based approach to managing gut symptoms in runners.
We can use various strategies, such as:
- Gradual carbohydrate progression
- Gut training protocols
- Individualised fuel selection
- Identifying and managing trigger foods where appropriate
The goal is to improve tolerance, reduce symptoms, and build your confidence in your daily nutrition and fuelling during both training and race day.
Do you provide meal plans?
I focus on building a personalised, structured fuelling strategy rather than rigid meal plans. Where needed, I can provide examples and guidance, but the goal is to help you understand how to fuel yourself in a flexible, practical way that works for you as an individual in the long term.
Can you help with race day nutrition specifically?
Yes. Race-day fuelling is a key area I support with. Which includes:
- Carbohydrate/calorie targets
- Hydration and electrolyte planning and targets
- Fuel timing strategies
- Carbohydrate loading advice
The aim is to remove guesswork so you can focus on your performance.
Is this suitable if I've never tracked carbs or nutrition before?
Yes, everything is explained in a simple, practical way. I do not typically do day-to-day tracking of nutrients. The main time that we will look at this will be during and around training/races. You do not need any prior knowledge. I will guide you through what you need to know and help you apply it step by step.
How do sessions take place?
